Forged Bottom End Advantage

The foundation of any bottom end rebuild is a solid forged crankshaft assembly, which provides strength and reliability far surpassing any cast part that lacks consistency. Forged crankshafts due to their lighter weight, more compact dimensions and better inherent dampening, rev higher and run smoother than their cast counterparts.

This part of the engine has a huge amount of stress due to twisting and bending 1000's of times a minute while running under load, you don’t want an inferior product here to ruin a motor. Wiseco engineers have worked in concert with K1 Technologies to design our crankshafts to meet or often exceed OEM tolerances giving you the best base for your bottom end rebuild.

K1 Forged Crankshafts

Wiseco and K1 Technologies have teamed up to bring you some of the best crankshafts available on the market today. All crankshafts are 4340 steel, core hardened and tempered to reduce stress and optimize tensile strength. The crankshafts are made with a nitriding process for hardening rather than induction heat treated. This eliminates any softening between the journals and deformation.

Our crankshafts also feature straight oil holes for the best oiling to the rod journals to insure you get the best crank for your money. Each K1 crankshaft is magnetic particle inspected and held to a maximum tolerance of .0002” journal dimension. Counterweights are placed for optimal load reduction and ease of balancing.

K1 Forged And Billet Connecting Rods

K1 offers two different types of connecting rods made from Forged 4340 Steel and Billet 4340 Steel. Proprietary bolts produced by ARP to K1 specification have asymmetrical threads to equally load each thread when under pressure. Connecting rods are shot peened for improved fatigue life and are finished in the USA using our state of the art Sunnen hones. Housing bore tolerances of +/- .000050” (50 millionths) match some of the tightest accepted tolerances in the industry.

The rods have double bridged caps to reduce housing bore distortion and there is no ridge between the blades acting as a stress riser. Rods are weight-matched to +/- 1 gram and boxed with the individual rotating, reciprocating, and total weights conveniently noted for balancing. A special wrist pin bushing material is also used with these assemblies offering optimal friction reduction.
